In the above picture is one of the sweetest and most beautiful people I have ever known in my life. Her name is Terrie Lynn Combs and she is my cousin and my friend. She smiles in this picture because she beat Cancer. She had the worse Cancer known to man and came back from stage 4 of this rapid, horrible, progressive Leukemia. She did it with the help of her most cherished supporter and soul mate, her husband Brett Combs. She did it with the help of her own beautiful earthly angels, her children, Brance, Megan and Britni. She did it with the help of her sisters, Lesa and Denise and the rest of her family and friends. Most of all she did it with the help of God.
Prayers soared to Jesus from everyone who loves Terrie. Jesus delivered them to our father who embraces us all. God delivered a miracle. Terrie went into remission and stayed there for almost four years.
A few days after Easter of this year, Terrie received the most horrible news that she was out of remission and the Cancer was back and more aggressive than ever. It was the most heartbreaking news for her and her family. What could have happened? Why did it happen again? Almost four years of regaining strength, financial security and peace of mind and then it returns! It was almost too overbearing for her. If not for the will power, strength and sheer determination of her husband Brett; Terrie may have spiritually given up.
Brett told her to live because without her, he would die of a broken heart. So now Terrie is fighting once again to live for her husband, her children, family, friends and even her special pets at home. She is fighting this fight with the help of lots of faith and prayers.
Even though the toll of this is hard emotionally, physically and mentally...it's also hard financially.
I asked Brett how they were paying their bills and keeping up the family and apartment in Texas which is so far away from their Tennessee home. He commented that even though the insurance is covering the treatments in Texas, they still have the co-payments which he had to agree to pay just to get Terrie into surgery for a bone marrow transplant. There's also the rent on an apartment for him and his children and even Terrie if and when recovery starts.
There is his own house payment, not to mention his other bills. He had to purchase an expensive insurance policy in order for Terrie's treatment to be covered. The list goes on and on...
Brett also is not working when he is with Terrie during this time supporting her and honestly keeping her alive with all the encouragement that he can muster. He stays up nights watching her, making sure she continues to fight. He gets a few hours at a time of sleep but never enough. He needs our help.
I was talking this idea over with him the other night and I came to the conclusion that Brett is not a taker. He is a natural born giver. Seeing this and knowing this bothers me tremendously because Brett is having to worry not only for the life of his wife but for the keeping of their home for them and their three children and pets. It's a family home where Terrie's parents are buried in a private cemetery on the property. They don't ever want to loose this place. They need our help.
Now with the recession, times are tight. This is not an attempt to collect loads of money from everyone...this is an attempt to ask for one dollar from everyone who reads this and if we have enough people to send one dollar a piece...Brett could have some of the help he needs to rid him of at least one worry. It won't only let him worry less but he will then be able to concentrate fully on helping his wife Terrie to recover from this horrible disease and to come home with him and their children to live in peace and security.
I am telling you that these two people love each other and they are the definition of what marriage should be. They are the light and love of each others eyes. I smile whenever I think of the two of them together and they are inspirations and hope for all couples in a relationship.
Please help me to help them to stay together. I beg of you to help them the only way we can right now and that is with deep prayers to Jesus for Terrie's recovery. Also for a dollar from every viewer and if you could pass this along to all of your friends, organizations such as Churches, Schools, Businesses...It would be forever appreciated.
Please copy the links above to post in your group pages please. One link has to be copied and pasted. This link will take you directly to the "Pray for Terrie" site. It's the update which her husband posts. You will be touched and moved by the spirit of love when you read the post that Brett posts every single night (if able) about his loving wife's condition. He updates it so that we can know what Terrie is going through and so that we can pray for specific areas which need the most prayers.
If you would like to send a dollar to Terrie. I have no fancy set up for it. This is an idea which I hope can work for this family...for the time being.
Please send it to:
